10 days ago, I made my come back on this blog with a post about my rank on google.

The 17th of January, I was #19 on google and today the blog is rank #15, obviously it would be hard to come back on first position without new backlink before the end of the month but, we can see that with some update on my blog, my rank is increasing.

Now the question is : Is it possible to come back on first position without new backlink and doing only update ?

Let’s do the test and check results in few weeks !

12 TB Storage server

Here are some photos of the new storage server that we are building to save the increasing amount of videos that we encode and prepare every day in the project VODMASTER.

This cabinet is made of 12 hard disk 1.5TB each, these discs are managed by 3Ware cards and with a Raid 5, we have a capacity of 12 in addition to the server storage 3To existing. The existing server will be equipped with a new 3ware card to handle this additional capacity.

This new card can manage 12 hard disks, so we will add 4 new disks and the old server will go from 3 to 4.5 TB. In this first step, we will have a capacity of 16.5 TB

With these new 3ware cards, we can connect cascade 12 to 12 servers, an ability to extend to 144!

We will recycle old 3ware card with 8 ports by buying a new shelf with 8 slots for hard disk and include 8 discs of 1.5TB each, which should enable us to have another 8 TB.

We will therefore provide a server to 16.5 server and additional 8 TB, with a total capacity of 24.5 TB prepare for the videos!

Dear customers and future customers, we are ready for 2009, just drop off your content and monetize it on Internet, mobile networks and IPTV!

How to connect an iPod on your TV

How to play video from iPod Touch on a TV ?

It is very easy, just buy a Composite AV Cable”from Apple or reseller, connect one side of the cable on iPod dock connector and connect the other side to the composite input (Red, white, yellow) on your TV, launch a video on the iPod and it ’s automatically played on your TV.

Be carefull concerning the video encoding, they will be more or less clear on the big screen

I also noticed that the video was shown on TV but was not played on the iPod screen, probably to save the batteries. There’s also a USB port to plug into an AC adapter to not drain the battery.

I will encode one DVD using codec H.264, bitrate of 2.5 Mbps, resolution of 640 x 480 pixel and I give you later my impressions on rendering.

DivX 7 based on H.264 Codec

The company DIVX announced a few days ago DIVX 7, the new version is based on the H.264 codec and provides better quality encoding with support for HD and MKV containers.

DIVX 7 is a free download by clicking here.

I started the encoding of a DVD using DIVX 7, I will share my impressions as soon as it’s done.

UPDATE : the result is not what I was expected, have to do more test later to find good settings

The End of DRM for Music files ?

Early this year, distributors of digital music (Apple and its iTunes store, Fnac, Virgin Mega) and record label (Warner Music, Universal, Sony Music) have announced the abandonment of DRM and thus enable the interoperability between different models of MP3 players.

This decision goes in the right direction by facilitating the life of the consumer, there is indeed nothing more frustrating than buying a piece of music and not be able to read anywhere.

In against part, record companies rely heavily on the french law “Internet and creation”, which should allow a flexible response to fight against piracy.

What about the end of DRM for video files ?

I think this is a matter of time. Distributors of video on demand and production houses are required to follow the movement launched by record companies if they want to adapt to the changing market for VOD and retain consumers of digital content.

NoLA : 4G Mobile technology at 3,6 Gbps

Researchers Korean ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) have announced to be able to achieve a bandwidth of 3.6 Gbps (approximately 450 MB / s) through a wireless communication technology called “NoLA” . This communication technology can now claim as a basis for the standardization of 4G mobile communications.

David Lambert Note: This technology is expected to be commercialized by 2012, so in 5 years … There is no doubt that from here to a very short time, it will be possible to access digital content almost instantly, no matter which place we are…

Apple iPhone 2 to MacWorld in January 2008?

The company DivX of Jerome Rota has just announced their new technology, the platform DivX Connected. It’s actually a solution of Media Center that displays video (DivX, HD DivX, Xvid and WM9), photos (JPEG and BMP) and music (MP3, WMA) on the LCD or Plasma screen and retrieve contents from a PC using an Ethernet or WiFi connection.

D-Link will be the first company to offer its small Media Center in mid-November, the DSM-330, which will be sold 189 euros.

David Lambert Note: a web browser integrated into the solution would be a plus and would surf the net via the media-center .. It remains to study the functions available with the development kit made available by DivX.
